Connect to the BusPirate from My MacBook 

From the terminal use this command:

screen /dev/tty.usbXXXX 115200  #115200 is the default baud rate.

Note: I did have to unplug the bus-pirate and reconnect to get it to respond with the menu after sending? to the serial port.
